Following relegation from the Premier Division at the end of last season, and also under new management it was a much changed side that took to the field.

Both sides created a number of early chances, however it was Soham that went in at the break ahead thanks to goals from Aidan Course and debutant Giovany Lopes. The hosts continued to create chances after the break with another new signing Zac Ollington scoring a third towards the end.
