Following the midweek defeat at Ware, the Greens made five changes to the side with Robbie Mason returning to captain the side, whilst there was a first start for Ross Elsom and debutant Pa Kujabi.

Romford made the perfect start, scoring after only two minutes when captain Jamie Dicks curled his freekick wide of the wall into the top corner of the net. The visitors came close to doubling their lead moments later, however Bogard tipped McKenzie’s shot on the turn wide of the post. As the half continued, the game started to even out although clear opportunities were limited at either end as Kujabi placed low at Chafer, Bogard came out to deny Mallett whilst Sharman glanced a header wide from Elsom’s delivery into the area.

The second half started in the same manner until Soham drew level on the hour when the incoming Robbie Mason headed home Horne’s corner through a crowd of players on the goal line. Shortly after, the striker placed low at Chafer, whilst Toms and Sharman headed over from deliveries into the area. With twenty minutes remaining, Hall played a cross-field ball to Foxley, who took it into the area only to be denied by the keeper’s legs. Chances continued to limited as Sharman and Bankole were denied late winners by the opposition keeper before Relizani ran onto a long Sharman ball, lifting it over Chafer, who had advanced out of his area, and wide of the target, with Sharman having a shot deflected behind late into stoppage time.
