Callender (Foul, 75) Soham came into this game looking to end a run of three straight league defeats, against a Stanway side they beat 5-1 at the start of the season, with one of the best performances produced by the Greens this campaign. Following Saturdays defeat to neighbours Mildenhall Town, Sam Bourne came into the defence in place of Stuart Williams, who dropped to the bench. Right from the kick-off, both teams were having their share of attacks, despite being restricted to long range shots, with St Hilaire, Libam and Callander all wasting chances. Midway through the half, the visitors opened the scoring when Skeggs floated his corner into the middle of the Soham penalty area, where RAY TURNER out jumped the home defence to glance his header over Jordan. Callander came close to doubling the lead on the half hour, but from a tight angle lifted his shot over both Jordan and the bar, after outpacing Hill into the area. Five minutes before half time, Robinson and Johnson combined down the left to deliver the ball across the box to Simpson, but from his layoff, Furnell volleyed against the foot of the post. With the game entering first half injury time, Stanway scored their second. Saunders played the ball past Johnson, who had pulled up with a slight injury, to the unmarked LUKE CALLENDER, who drilled it past Jordan from just inside the Soham area. ==HT== Soham started the second half by replacing Bourne with Williams, and reverting to a 442 formation. Straight away, this had an effect, as the hosts started to have the better of the attacks, with Libam coming closest, but he headed wide. With just over an hour gone, Soham introduced Jones for the injured St Hilaire, and with his first action of the game, played in Libam, but after running at goal, fired well over. The Greens finally had something to show for this pressure, when they pulled a goal back in the 67th minute. Scott Johnson managed to get to Stanways left by-line, before playing the ball towards goal, but Captain MICHAEL BURCH got a touch and diverted it into his own net. Six minutes later, and the two sides were level. Simpson played the ball towards the edge of the area, from where CHARLES LIBAM fired home with his right foot. From then on, it looked like there was only going to be one winner, as Jones and Libam missed chances, with Soham dominating play. With nine minutes left, the hosts scored what turned out to be the winner. Robinson delivered the ball from wide on the right into the middle of the area, where substitute PAUL JONES turned to volley home. Hill came close to adding a fourth soon after, but he headed narrowly wide from Robinsons corner. ==FT== Definitely a game of two halves, as Soham gave Stanway a two goal lead, before coming back to win the game with three second half strikes, as they end their three game losing streak, to record another league double.
