Luke Stanley opened the scoring in the final minute of a rather docile first half, before the pace of Wroxham’s attack pierced through Soham as the second half went into overdrive.
Drake scored two goals in three minutes to give his side a 2-1 lead, before four goals in four minutes from Drake (2), Marsden and a Sawyer consolation for the home side made it 5-2.
Sam Harty then converted an 85th minute penalty to cement the win, and give Wroxham their first victory in the league in eight games.
Wroxham’s quick counter attacking play – inspired by Drake – was too much for Soham to handle and the Cambridgeshire outfit had no answers as The Yachtsmen knocked on the door time and time again.
The visitors made a composed start to proceedings, knocking the ball about well in the misty conditions.
A Remy Gordon corner created the first real opening after ten minutes, with his back post ball being met by Paul Cook, who’s header was cleared off the line and Joe Marsden’s follow up attempt smartly tipped away by Soham ‘keeper Daniel Bircham.
Soham began to settle midway through the first half, and the home side created two great chances to almost take the lead with 25 minutes on the clock. Two balls into the box caused problems to the Wroxham defence, Jordan Gent flicking on a superb backwards header that crashed back off the post, before the resulting clearance was played back in only for Luke Stanley to header over from eight yards.
Wroxham’s confident passing was beginning to get nullified as the home side were wrestling back control, with both Buster Harridine and Stanley both guilty of skewing good half chances off target.
The threat from Stanley then proved too much as the striker scored his sixth goal of the season to give Soham a 1-0 lead just before half time.
The Green’s captain battled for the ball down the left, before cutting in onto his right and firing the ball past Luis Tibbles into the bottom right hand corner.
The half time break gave Wroxham a chance to settle, and they came out all guns blazing at the start of the second half as Stephen Drake bagged two quick goals to turn the game on its head.
His first was a piece of artistry. Wroxham won the ball in the middle of the park and found themselves with three on two, Joe Marsden’s dinked through ball finding Drake on the edge of the box, who sent a dipping half volley into the far right corner to level the game.
Paul Cook then made a strong run down the left two minutes later and laid the ball into Drake’s path just inside the box, the striker firing low past Bircham to give Wroxham the lead with 53 minutes gone.
The game then went into overdrive as four goals came in four second half minutes. Drake bagged his hat trick, placing the ball between Bircham’s legs after Joe Marsden’s superb through ball. Ben Sawyer then got one back for Soham, before a fourth from Drake and an effort from Joe Marsden – both from darting Remy Gordon runs down the left - made it 5-2 to Wroxham with 12 minutes remaining.
And Harty’s 85th minute penalty compounded the win after Fernando Vide was tripped in the box as Wroxham produced their best performance of the season to claim a sensational victory.
