Soham Reserves 0 Brampton 4 Saturday 12/12/09 After the excellence of last weeks display the Reserves were out fought, thought and battled by a very competent Brampton team.

Missing Sean Lines and Declan Bellchamber who were called up to the 1st team and Jordan Alexander to work the Ressies began well. Good passing and movement tore Brampton apart and resulted in a good flick from Christie allowing Sterna to slot the ball home. However, celebrations were cut short when the away linesman stood with flag aloft alleging that despite running from behind two players Sterna was offside, and the referee cancelled out the opener. This seemed to spur on the away team with the strong front pairing of Linney and Harris causing a lot of problems. Both players netted before half time and Soham turned round 2-0 down. The second half was similar but Brampton was always on top. Mark Allen and Jake Fuller never really got to grips with the midfield, and with Adam Clements withdrawing with a recurrence of the groin injury Ben Amery put in a good 30 minutes. The game was made complete for the visitors with another goal a piece for the impressive strike force. The Reserves now face an enforced mid-season break with no scheduled game until 16th January! This crazy fixture situation will not help them but there is enough emerging talent to get back to winning ways in the New Year. With young lads supporting an excellent win for the 1st team suffering such a defeat was softened slightly, but the players must look at themselves after this display. With no one deserving more than 6/10 the application and effort of the team must get back to the last couple of weeks. Overton, Fitchett (Clayton), David, Brasher, Crawford (Cooper), Fuller, Allen, Sterna, Christie, Clements (Amery) Happy Xmas to all from the Reserves and thanks to you all for your support.
