Julius Martin Lane to be renamed 'Just George Stadium'

We're delighted to announce that our ground will be renamed the Just George Stadium, thanks to the generosity of our key partner, Mead Construction.

Soham Town Rangers are delighted to announce that, for this season, the club’s ground at Julius Martin Lane will be officially renamed the Just George Stadium, thanks to the generosity of one of our key partners, Mead Construction.

Mead Construction, who supply plant and materials for a range of projects around the ground, were given the opportunity to name the stadium after their company. Instead, in a remarkable gesture, Richard Mead requested that the stadium be named in memory of George, with the chosen title 'Just George Stadium'.

Richard Mead said:
“We’ve enjoyed a promising relationship with Soham Town Rangers over the last two seasons and are proud to support the club in many ways. When the opportunity came up to put Mead Construction’s name on the stadium, we felt it was far more important to do something meaningful for the community. Naming it the Just George Stadium is a way of honouring George’s memory and supporting Lisa and her family’s incredible work.”

Club Chairman Jonathan James said:
“We are extremely grateful to Mead Construction for their continued support. This gesture goes beyond football – it connects the club to something very special in our community. The Just George Stadium will be a lasting tribute, and we are proud to carry that name.”

Lisa Radcliffe, George’s mum and founder of the Just George charity, shared her thoughts:
“What an honour it is to have the stadium named ‘Just George’ in our son George’s memory. He loved football, and we know he would have loved watching games here. Soham Town Rangers FC and the Soham community are great supporters of Just George, helping fundraise and raising awareness of the need for research into childhood cancer. Therefore, this naming of the stadium is for them too. Thank you to Mead Construction for recognising this and passing the opportunity to Just George. We continue to be blown away by the generosity of this community.”

The club looks forward to welcoming supporters to the newly named Just George Stadium for this weekend's community day with a fixture against Woodbridge at 3pm, Saturday 4th October.
