Soham 2 v Cambridge United 4 Wednesday 23/07/08 In front of a crowd of 569 people, Soham continued their pre-season campaign with a home game against a Cambridge United XI, mainly made up of fringe players and trialists.

Soham made the better start to the game, opening the scoring in the third minute through trialist Kentoh Gray. Slowly the Us started to get back into the match and equalised midway through the half when Robbie Willmot managed to get past McNeil to fire low into the net, before Cambridge scored again on the half hour when trialist Felino Jardim curled the ball wide of Jordan. The lead was only held for a minute, before Dodou got on the end of Libams ball, placing under the keeper. The game was as good as over in the opening five minutes of the second half, with Jardim, from the edge of the area, and Willmott both scoring their second goals of the game. After this Cambridge showed their superior fitness and had large parts of the game, although substitutes Eley and Ablett both had good chances for the hosts.
